About APC Science Union
Who we are
We are Gewu Society / APC Science Union, a broad science-communication community made up of students and science enthusiasts. We share science with a wider audience across many fields. Through our articles and videos, we hope to spark curiosity and help more people discover the pleasure of learning about science.
What does APC stand for? The three letters refer to Astronomy, Physics, and Chemistry. Our Chinese name is 格物社 (Gewu Society), a reference to the idea of gaining knowledge through careful investigation and continuing to learn.
We are building an online library together with members across the Union. It brings together the science writing produced by our Science Communication Team and the ebooks contributed by our members, so readers can find the subjects they want to explore. We hope everyone who visits can find an island of their own in this sea of knowledge.
Our history
APC Science Union was founded on July 5, 2016. Over the years, it has developed an active community, a substantial collection of learning resources, and a membership with experience in many academic fields. It is a place where people can study, exchange ideas, and make friends through a shared interest in science.
We currently have four working groups: Science Communication, Recruitment, Operations, and Publishing. Each supports science communication in a different way. If your interests or skills match one of these roles, you are welcome to apply. All four groups offer paid assignments.
- Science Communication Team: The main writing team. Its members create engaging science content across a wide range of subjects. We welcome anyone who enjoys explaining science and would like to become a regular contributor.
- Recruitment Team: Organizes the annual entrance challenge and recruits new members.
- Operations Team: Plans Union events and designs APC merchandise. We are always looking for event planners and designers.
- Publishing Team: Works with the other teams to publish their work through our social-media channels. If you have experience in communications, publicity, or account management, we would be glad to hear from you.

Every summer, the Recruitment Team runs a large entrance challenge in that group. Anyone looking for a challenge is welcome to take part. The group also hosts other Union activities throughout the year, and visitors are welcome.
